Kalibangan


Kalibangān is a prehistoric site at in Rajasthan. It is on the left or southern banks of the Ghaggar (Ghaggar-Hakra River)[1][2], India. It is on a triangle-shaped piece of land at the confluence of Drishadvati and Sarasvathi Rivers.[3] A report on the excavations at the site were published in 2003 by the Archaeological Survey of India, 34 years after the completion of excavations. The report said that Kalibangan was a major provincial capital in the Indus Valley. Discoveries at Kalibangan include unique fire altars and world's earliest known ploughed field.[4] There is also evidence of two types of burials, namely circular graves and rectangular graves.
